WordPress
WordPress is popular content management system used to easily manage and create websites of all types and functionalities, from start-up to enterprise.
WordPress boasts a wide variety of plugins which add additional functionality such as eCommerce, forums, rentals, listings, etc.
It is a great choice for many types of websites while providing an easy way to manage your site while not compromising on customization.
Shopify
Shopify, similarly to WordPress is a content management system however it is managed by a dedicated team which handle updates, security, etc. taking the maintenance out of your hands.
Using Shopify as a services requires a bit more financial investment as many of the plugins and themes are provided on a storefront through which they can be purchased.
Shopify is advantageous due to it being managed by a dedicated party however is limited in customization to an extent as theme modification is made much more difficult.
Wix
Wix is a serviced based platform like Shopify where you are able to purchase themes and plugins in order to create websites however, also limiting the functionality and customizability.
Wix requires a monthly subscription for certain tiers which can be costly however enable the use of a custom domain, adding additional features and access to more premium settings.
Wix is a good choice if you are not creating an eCommerce website as that is better handled by dedicated eCommerce platforms such as Shopify or WordPress's WooCommerce.
